Hello, I have an E350 saloon 2010, need some advice on a specific issue. On starting the engine and engaging the gearbox/auto, the car doesn't move, as if the drive system isn't driving/engaging hard enough if that makes sense? If I take her up to 2000rpm she will move.....after 5 mins turning her off and on, she did eventually start to drive like normal albeit gear changes do seem sluggish? I've just spent 1000's on crank seals/oil cooler seals, water pump and tyres and could do with a break!!! Any advice greatly appreciated.

I think the advice on here would be to see a Mercedes independent specialist who knows these cars , where do you live so we can recommend one nearby

Could well be just low on fluid so that would be the first thing to look at, as a side question how is your battery, if it’s not very good then low voltages do throw some strange gearbox symptoms

Thanks, battery is fine, do I need a mechanic to check fluid levels?

Being the 7g box then yes I’m afraid it’s a computer check as there is no dipstick tube and also filled from the bottom :(
Might be best finding a lock independent Mercedes specialist to read the live data to see what’s happens

Local mechanics can be very good, they can also get into a great deal of expensive (for the owner) trouble if they don’t know Mercedes that well. It’s one of the many reasons we recommend Mercedes Idies as they live and breath them and know the issues

The gearbox should be serviced with new oil and filter every 40,000 miles or so (might be worth checking if I’m right )

Might it be something to do withe the previous work you've had done. Is there any oil under the car after being stood for a while which would indicate a leak.

The 722.9 has to be measured at the correct temperature too, which can all be done from within STAR :)

Hello

My E350 whilst travelling at 70mph came out of gear/auto and would not re-engage, wasn't any sound before hand, as I pressed the throttle it just revved..no drive whatsoever, had to get recovered at the side of the road, yet had just driven 500 miles without anything. She was sluggish on start up a few times, which might have been the cold, or maybe it was something else. appreciate any comments, Thanks

No oil whatsoever, she's just packed in on the motorway after a 500 mile run, no gears engaging so maybe the box is buggered...waiting for a gearbox specialists to look at her..cheers

I got the crank seals and oil cooler seals done about 2/3 weeks ago, as there was oil leaking, sine then no oil has leaked, cheers

I'm wondering if the TC wasn't properly engaged in the transmission oil pump. They may work after a fashion for a little while before failing completely.

Given the rear main oil seal was done the TC must have been removed.

The two drive cogs in the pump?

Thanks, I also had a water pump fail due to bearings and the serpertine belt snapped (according to the mechanic) after that work the cars throttle was not right, needed high revs before it would change gear? took it back to him and he said he hadn't connected it quite right, he took it back in and it ran smooth afterwards in terms of changing gears, but still didnt feel right..Whats ths TC? Cheers
