I have a W212 E350 estate and I find that when I am stationary and want to pull away quickly I cannot because when I put the car into gear there is this slight delay between pressing the accelerator and the car moving off. It's only a brief delay (less than a second) but it makes pulling away quickly and smoothly impossible. if you press the accelerator down more than a little there's a delay then suddenly off you go really fast.
I've learned to live with it but I wish it wasn't like this.
I did have the car serviced by Alex Crow in stowmarket who said there was nothing wrong but to me it is just a bit odd and I loaned the car to a friend who also commented on it.
I've searched the internet for similar issues and found this thread that seemed to describe a similar issue with the 7g gearbox (but mine is 9g I think?) and they said there might be a software update?
If anyone owns one of these cars (mine is 2010 model with column mounted gear selector) - what is your car like to pull away promptly in?
and does anyone know what i mean and if there is a fix?
thanks in advance!

What do you mean “when I put the car into gear”? Unless you are parked, with the engine off, it should be in Drive

He is parked , he starts the engine , puts it into gear , handbrake off and pulls away , that's when there's a delay ,from pressing pedal to moving off .

If your car is 2010 it’s a 7g gearbox - MB moded the gearbox to resolve the hesitancy on take-off with the 7g+ trans around 2011.
I think MB introduced the 9g trans in the W212 around 2014 which were the runout models prior to the launch of the W213 in 2016

As far as I’m aware MB introduced an external pump to keep the gearbox fluid pressure higher at tickover or when the start/stop was active, as you say it is a known characteristic of the 7g trans

As above it’s just a characteristic of the 7g box, however it can be slightly overcome by having the box in S mode rather than C,

Sorry about the brevity of my replies earlier. I was trying to do other things at the same time and that never works - I'm a man!

I had a similar problem with my 2010 C207 - at least I did in the early days. As has been mentioned before, i seem to recall there was a software update. Might be worth checking with your Indie.

The way I got round it was to release the brake and let the car creep slowly forward just before I wanted a quick start. So, on a roundabout, seeing a potential gap, I would have the foot-brake off and some slight movement just before I wanted to go. Then, the car seem to pull away instantly, presumably because the gearbox had already taken up the drive. Hope that helps.
