Hi all, a few days ago I started the engine of my W218 CLS 350cdi, it ran for a few seconds, and then it died. I had no such issues before, the car ran perfectly. I tried to start the engine several times, but it only cranks and doesn't start. There were no fault codes present.

The next day I decided to listen for a fuel pump and I was not able to hear it working. After several switches between key ignition positions (0 - I - II), I heard the fuel pump working and was able to start the engine, but only for a few seconds. During subsequent attempts to start the engine, I could not hear the fuel pump working, and the engine only cranked but did not start. I'm not sure if the fuel pump has to make noise each time I try to start the engine, but at this stage, I suspect the fuel pump or fuel filter.

Do you have any ideas on what else to look for?

I think you need a Mercedes specialist to diagnose your issue.

The local car service that repairs MB cars is currently on vacation, so I thought I'd try to find the problem myself. I'll probably have to wait.
