Had a problem the other night (it was chucking it down and it was half 11 at night - not a good start!)
Well all of a sudden the battery icon flashed up on the dash and the sat nav said the voltage was low (even though i was driving along so would have thought it would have charged ok). Anyway other warning signs started flashing up - EPS, airmatic etc advising me to go to the workshop and suddenly the power steering went (felt like i was trying to turn a 2 tonne truck without power steering - biceps got a good workout). Anyway pulled over popped the bonnet and it looked as if coolant was leaking. Opened the trunk too and it sounded as if there was a hissing sound near the battery. Called a recovery guy out and he advised the fan belt was shredded.
Does anyone know if this is simply just a fanbelt problem that has led to the battery loss and coolant leak or am i looking at a good old mercedes remortgage the house type repair job?
