Ive never owned a car with low milage with so many issues that are expensive to repair! (And ive owned fiat vans!) what a heap! Radio not working, £1200. Seat lumbar stuck £1100. Sat nav, who knows, analogue clock, impossible to set the time.. rear seat not adjustable... damp in the car from somewhere, this is a fmbsh car with 70k miles on it! To say im disappointed with it is an understatement. Have i bought a dog or are they all the same?

I'm afraid they are all pretty much the same. Over complicated and not the greatest build quality bound to lead to high costs. One owner on another forum reckoned his had cost him tens of thousands over his ownership. When running well there's not much to beat them. At least you've not suffered the eye watering depreciation if you'd bought new. (first owner of our 216 lost over £100k in depreciation over 6000 miles)

You’re not wrong, i got an s63 too just to get that additional AMG tax on top! Had quite a few mercs and have a couple now, and without a doubt my w124 and w114 are far better machines in regards of build quality

I thought the W221 was the better built ones according to that YouTube chap who does the 'buy this, not that' feature.

The S65 is such a tempting buy and a 2012 ish S63 5.5 has just come up for sale 3 miles away at a local dealer. (These cars are right up my street). Whilst I can appreciate super cars have super car bills, you don't want to be at mercy of build quality/poor design woes. I've avoided the S63 up the road as the dealer its with, I recall buying shag knackers and pushing them on, so wouldn't part with decent money at such a place.

Mercs if looked after properly are expensive to maintain. Keep on top of it.
S Class cars as mentioned have expensive parts.
Had my w220 from new (2004) only "major" jobs have been new alternator, new stat and new ABS/ESP module.

Things get expensive of you go only to dealers. I tend to use specific garages (dealers, indy) for specific jobs with an element of DIY.

I have a 212 E350CDI almost 10 years old, owned it for 9.5 years. Only ever had one fault the oil seal on the turbo boost sensor failed.
We have had 6 MB's over the last 20 years all second hand, only had a few minor issues with them.
