Hi All

I have a 2011 W221 with the OM642. I have an oil leak from the back of the engine. It looks like its coming from the near side bank somewhere, as theres oil on the far back corner of the engine cover and when I put my hand down the back of the engine, I hand fresh oil on my glove which came from under the EGR valve area.

Are there any known oil leaks in that area?

Thanks in advance

Si

Thank you for your speedy reply.
Is this a specialist job or can someone with a moderate skill set attempt it

£10 for two o rings , 8 hours labour if that’s the issue . It has been diy’d and there is plenty on YouTube for om642 oil cooler seals .
Of course that may not be the fault , clean up the area of oil and see if the cause is visible ?

If it is the oil cooler seals which is 90% likely better to leave the job to the professionals plenty of stuff to take off (and break) to get to the bottom of the vee of the engine where the cooler resides. Current advice if you are keeping the car is to renew the oil cooler as well they can leak
