Can someone help?
Owned car about 1 month now and since ive had it i hear a noise coming from o/s/r. Imagine driving on the rumble strip of motorway without the vibration and slightly duller tone thats what i hear its not overly loud but its there. What could it be? i have checked the wheel bearings they are fine. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

The first thing to go is the drop links for the anti roll bar, £6.00 each from MB.

The anti roll bar is under tension across the two bottom wishbones of the suspension, the links that hold it in place each end have small ball joints to allow for the movement of either side of the car, they are only about 6" long.

when worn a knocking is heard when turning corners or going over rough ground. This may not be your problem of coarse.

No i think im fine with the drop links then. I usually here the sound between 30-70 mph and its not constant its almost like a certain frequancy it drops off then comes back.

This being the case it comes back to wheel bearings. the car should be jacked and by turning the wheels ,if you can feel the balls in the race, then that bearing is shot, you may have to wait a little longer for it to become worse in order to find it.

Hi,
I think it still more likely to be your wheel bearing.
If you can,t feel any wear in the bearing the way television said, you "could try this"
I stress do this on a straight quiet road get to a speed when you can hear the noise clearly, maintaining this speed turn the steering wheel left to right just enough to transfer some of the wieght of the car from one side of the car to the other, the noise should dissappear when the wieght comes off the side the bearing is knackered on.
If it does,nt, look for the obvious and simple things first before replacing anything.

Hi

I always wondered what this test proved. Would this test also work on a lighter car ?:)

You are a star.
