Hello all

I am thinking of buying a Mercedes GLC. It will be my "last car" (I'm 81) so I've been looking for any info from members - but I've come up against the "too few letters" thing so I can't even ask general questions about the model. I've tried calling it GLC-Class or GLCClass etc and it either fails the search completely or gives me the same old "too small" response. It's rather a shame because the model is Euro-6 with vitually no nasty emissions - with matching lower road tax -and those I've seen have generally been in very good nick. AND the boss, who is 5 feet tall (when her feet are dirty!) can reach the pedals etc!

The cheapest offer (on EBay) for this model is around £10-12K so it's a shame I can't pick members' brains. I will probably end up buying one from my favourite Indy (that's Mercland in Nuneaton) at around £16K but I'm not ready to proceed yet due to a list of outstanding medical appointments etc.

I appreciate that this restrction is there for a reason but apart from whoever sees this post (and can give me some feedback) I wonder if there's any workaround that might get me some member information?

Had a friend with a GLC350 I used it for a trip to Aberdeen and back - very nice to drive, plenty of space and went very well indeed - they didn't have it very long as didn't need 2 cars.

Crabbing at slow speed was about the only annoyance - usually "fixed" with all season or winter tyres

@Srdl has a "sporty" version

I think we’ve all come to terms with slow speed crabbing of MB 4 wheel drive systems I just accept it as part of the character of the car as it doesn’t appear to do any harm - disappears in warm >12 deg weather

Had a GLC as a courtesy car for two days.
Drove very well with good seats and vision.
A good choice for the older generation with easier access getting in and out than a normal saloon.

Still absolutely love mine after nearly six years and have no intention of changing it any time soon. Yes, mine has 367bhp and air suspension which probably helps. It’s very comfortable and spacious especially with the back seats folded down.

I have had no crabbing problems since I switched to Michelin Cross Climate tyres last year.

I don’t hate them, I just prefer decent vehicles instead of lifestyle ones… ;):p

I've got a 2016 GLC 250d and they are great cars to drive but based on the C Classes of the day so hard plastics and some questionable fits. The only things to be aware of are the NOx sensors and the aux batteries which don't seem to last and the spring link front suspension arms which don't seem to be man enough for the job and are quite expensive to replace

I have a 2021 GLC300 mild hybrid and absolutely love it.

Its great for the older generation as fairly high so easy entry/exit.

Mine is a Premium Plus in Hyacinth Red with saddle brown leather interior.

I dislike the running boards but they are useful for children and elderly short mother in laws, mine has a panoramic sun roof that I could do without, it has the premium sound system which I do love, the seats are comfy and have loads of adjustment, it is quiet and reasonably economical averaging 33mpg and 40+ on a run.

I have no crabbing issues with mine which has Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyres that are not run flat.
