30+ years till I retire, although I won’t see it (early onset Alzheimer’s).
The 350 will stay till it dies, the 169 will get changed for a GLA 250 I think for the wife, and long into the future who knows what, I know I won’t have a hybrid again, just too difficult to work with, full electric on the other hand, maybe.

Interesting reading which just shows we're all in different situations. My advice, John, is to retire as soon as you can because there’s much more to life than working full time (but appreciate that kids complicate things - I don’t have any!).

I was 57 when I bought my C207 and I thought that would be my last decent car, my last hurrah. Eight years later, I swapped it for my first AMG so you can never predict the future. I changed it because I had read about too many problems on this forum with cars of that age and reliability is important to me as I don’t do oily bits! I went petrol rather than diesel this time because I was worried about the durability of all the technology now required to keep diesel emissions clean and I don’t do vast mileages in it so a thirsty petrol isn't a problem.

Last year, we also changed my wife's Mini Cooper for a new one and that is our daily run about which we both use for local trips. When we get rid of the Mini, we will definitely go electric as we rarely do more than a 60 miles round trip in it.

I don’t know how long I will keep the GLC (and I, personally, love it!). It is on a three year PCP to give me the option of just handing it back if I want to. My current thinking is that I will probably just pay off the finance and keep it and run it for eight years or so like my previous car. And then, who knows!

I'm 59 (60 this month) and like others have said defo don't act my age, I'm sort of semi-retired, (full-time, summer, part-time winter) as long as I'm working, I will keep my c207 (love it). When I retire properly, who knows, perhaps an A class 1.3 petrol
Might even have a last hurrah, as I do like the w222
S class 350 cdi. :D
If I ever change the 212 E350, I will look very closely at a 222 S350CDI.

Off to test drive an E63 Biturbo on Wednesday.

Very impressive car that out performs a stock E55. (only just though)
Far more up date interior and feels more nimble than the W211.
Not a fan of the gloomy all black interior colour though coupled with the ash black inserts. I need a cream/light grey or porcelain white leather interior to make me truly satisfied.

The car I looked at needed imminent work on the discs/pads/rear tyres and with very little reduction being offered I 've discounted this one.

Plenty more fish in the sea.

Has anyone used Safwat cars in Southend on Sea?
They have an E63 I may be interested in.

Of our 5 cars 2 won't be going anywhere when I retire. Both the SLs are keepers. We'll keep one here and one in France.
The E class will by then be long dead (from tin worm). MrsLK had planned to buy her Mini at the end of its lease but is slowly coming to realise it's not economic to do so.
That leaves the Smart, which is currently in France, SORN, no MOT and awaiting a decision on its fate. It may end up scrapped as it's worth far more in parts than to sell.

So that leaves us with two highly impractical SLs....
Mrs LK gets a nice staff discount from work which carries on after retirement if she retired from there.
At present we could have a 5000 mile Discovery Sport (top of the line) for around £200 per month, replaced every 12 months. It's a very attractive prospect and one we can afford.

Roger my 63 came from Safwat, must say they were excellent to deal with , no hesitation in buying from them again. They always have a good range of quality machines

Thanks John. Good to know.

I'm a bit torn on the Safwat car. It's got the interior colour I want, but its not got too many options and its black.
Price seems pretty good for its age and mileage.
One to think about for a little while. If it sells beforehand, it sells.

Is it the 213 you’re looking at Roger ?

A 212 John. My budget won't stretch to a 213:(
Thought so, just didn’t see a black one on the Safwat site? (Yes I know I’m nosy!!)

Edited my post John. It wasn't at Safwat:D
Ah yes, see that...
The interior is nice on the black one right enough!
Must admit having a light interior in my i8 has been lovely. The 63 was black, although with the panoramic roof it didn’t matter quite so much

Good spot John. Has the interior and heated seats but very little else over the standard options already fitted.
One to join the list of possibles:D
You’re right Roger, no reverse camera for instance but quite well kitted as standard to be fair. And from a franchise so you’d get a warranty which is useful .

I have had diesels in the past...but will not again.

I wouldn't buy anther diesel, but I might lease one. May well have the decision forced on me by my car's forthcoming MOT! It's been brilliant really, but I've kept it far too long. I'm under pressure to get something with 7 seat capability - looked at new GLE but there's just no way I'm going to drop £60K ish on a car.

What surprises the 62 year old me is that there are so many of us old farts on here...and some with very young children...my baby girl is 28.

I was thinking that! 62 too, my two daughters are well into their 30's. I've got grandchildren almost as old as some posters kids!
