Used to have a C63...
Loads of rain and stranded vehicles last I heard, tailbacks jct23/24, that was a few hours ago mind
You headed Ripponden way/Rishworth/Saddleworth?

Thanks John. Aye, Rishworth and Turley Holes / Withens Moor area. (And Snake Pass, but keep hearing on the radio that that's closed every other day!) Need snow gone so ground teams can find the tiny wee red flags in the gullies, and then cloud and rain to bu55er off enough for us to actually get airborne! o_O

So today I changed a spark plug,......just the one.

When I carried out the last full service including plug change I ran out of patience, daylight and knuckle skin getting at no.8 spark plug on my CLS63!
The other 7 plugs I removed were in pretty fair condition so I wasn't worried about leaving No.8 for a bit, although No.8 also has the worst heat profile so needs doing for sure.

Only took an hour and a half, an assortment of bendy tools, a flexible keyhole camera, and a piece of string - but all good now.

What an arse of a job!!

I have fond memories of plug changes on my Honda CBX 1000 back in the day.....

This one was a real struggle.
Main issue was using short extensions and sockets that lock together along with a special plug socket and using string tied to the back of that to avoid losing the socket out of sight...

Still.... Job done and knowledge filed for next time!!

At least he didn't have to remove the fuel tank to remove his plugs
No point in removing the tank on my CBR as you can’t get to the plugs that way...
There’s an access panel on each side and once that’s removed you have a very small access to the 4 plugs. You also need the special plug spanner from the tool kit as nothing else is small enough

Its a tank off on my FJR1300, but its straight forward. When I had the VFR800 you could just get to the front 2 plugs over the radiator from the front with the correct extension. The rears were dead easy just remove the seat.

Started off in the snow this morning , ye olde winters performed faultlessly going up the hill from the house . I of course had my practised smug smile that can only be adopted by a driver that knows that they will get to the top without incident .
Pretty bad conditions on the A12 and I felt that 40-50mph on winters was enough . A number of others in all shapes and sizes thought 70 was more appropriate because that’s the normal speed . Possibly they were making up time because cars needed clearing of snow and that took more time than expected  .
The number of cars with smashed front ends abandoned probably means that the odd one of them misjudged conditions .

A few years back in some quite heavy snow I had to go out in the SLK on snow tyres. Going up a long hill I caught up a land Rover slipping & sliding, & followed him to a give way junction. We both stopped & then moved off, I could see the look of amazement on his face through the offside mirror. It was a picture.

I had mine going up an icey snow covered car park this morning which was a decent steep gradiant. On summers i struggle getting on my 1/2” slope drive with less on

1999 CLK430, 2007 VITO 3.0V6 , W124's (1994 320TE , 1993 220TE ) , 07 2.5 X-Type
Fitted a new Auto Gearbox Rubber Mount to the Vito £80 from merc ! for a block of rubber and metal attachments couldnt have cost much more than £10 to manufacture! a bit fiddly to ensure i could support / slightly raise the gearbox to remove the old one as the pan is plastic so couldnt support on that , but job done now and with the new propshaft fitted a few weeks ago transmission is sorted
During the week I fitted a new Rear wiper as they are prone to water ingress (as the rear wiper water for the rear jet goes thro the centre of the assembly where the pcb tracks are - not one of mercs ... or valeos best designs ) so the new one had a drain hole added to the casing before fitting and an air vent hole at the top so hopefully will last longer than the last one which lasted under 12 months however i did manage a full refund on it so could have been worse

About 20 years ago ;) I had a Subaru 4WD which would go anywhere in the snow on ordinary tyres I was very impressed the first time out and then found out their limitations when it came to slowing down:eek: Great to have 4WD but when some other clowns get stuck and block the road it just means you're stationary in a 4WD:mad:

But when you push them out the way you can still continue your journey

Used my Ctek MXS 5 for the first time today since I bought it over two years ago. Mrs L's Mini was very slow to turnover so it’s now connected to the charger. With the cold weather and very few short journeys for either car, I suspect I will also do the GLC next.

Went to work. 160 mile round trip.
Discovered a 230 on 245/40 and 285/35 summer tyres isn't as bad as I'd thought it would be (downright entertaining at times!).
