Today, I removed the lower part of the tailgate and started taking parts off the engine for cleaning and or renewing.

If “Merc” includes my Smart fortwo,
I put these new black ABS number plate surround holders on, they are so simple to install and tidy up your number plate if you are fussy in that way like I am instead of having screw heads all over your number plate, there is a huge following for them by like minded people.
I used to use double sided automotive sticky tape but I was told that it was illegal, so problem solved.

Love it!! :)

Nice new MOT.
Cost me £300 for two new lower rear arms and an arb link, both on the front suspension. Not too bad I suppose for a 16 year old girl as it's the first time she's failed an MOT in the 7 years I've had her and this is easily the biggest expense I've had.
I hate paying for any work to be done on the car, but I would have had to buy a ball joint splitter, as well as the parts and done it on my back in the drive. All whilst preparing for an imminent house move. No choice at all really.
All set for another year's happy motoring.

Drove the S class to a weekend getaway with Mon wife. It behaved very well.

On the way back, bought a c200 kompressor w203 for the nephew, as his car has been written off by a drunk driver.

Back home after a 280 mile road trip. Drove down to Eastbourne yesterday morning and came back this afternoon. The E240 ate up the miles comfortably and I didn't use as much petrol as I thought I would. Only down there for 27.5 hours but the weather and company were wonderful. I do like to be besides the seaside.

It's a love hate relationship at the moment. Love how quiet and refined it is and how it's a consummate load lugging mile muncher but absolutely hate it to work on. Nothing is easy. It's like someone went out of their way to make it as difficult as possible. They certainly succeeded.
Agreedn100% and mentioned it before. I have had to put way too many niggles right on mine.
Changed the front passenger wiper arm last week. Driving along in the rain, wipers going then a prang up front, the bearing in the wiper arm failed. New one from MB (via Germany - 70 notes). Bolts off easy enough, needed to pour boiling water where the thread goes into the wiper arm as it wouldn't pull off for love nor money.
Then I had to get new wipers as when the arm died it pushed one wiper so that it was deformed.

Today, to Duxford and back for the Battle of Britain airshow. Which was nice.
That is a good day out but you do need a full day to do it :) I seem to remember that the completion of the M11 was held up so they could get Concord in or is that just my imagination :)

No, they had to strip all unnecessary weight out to be able to land her on the shortened runway.

I only know this as I happened to read it inside that Concorde earlier today ;)

I did a little bit of reverse engineering.

The past two weekends have involved a fair bit of S211 driving, up to Towcester then on to Bournemouth and this weekend Stansted and Duxford. The car didn't miss a beat and impressed one of the passengers that much he is willing to defect from BMW and wants one now.

I did get home from Bournemouth and hear hissing from the front left thinking I had a puncture, thankfully just the air compressor venting the rear suspension as we stepped out of the car. I'm now paranoid about my weight.
