Tell me about it - although we are mid 20’s. Forecast wasn’t too bad but it just seems to be getting hotter.

I have a nice cold glass of wine in hand and just thinking about a dip in the not so hot - hot tub.

R230 SL500 - oh yeah!
Not done today, but as I haven't been on here for a while, some of what I've had done is:
- New high-level brake light
- New boot seal for roof
- Had a car port built so I have somewhere to put it to keep it dry.

After drive this morning for a dog walk in the woods, needed to let 1.5psi out of 3 tyres and pump up one tyre (slow loss of pressure) 5.5psi . Heat and hot tarmac seem to have increased the pressures a little, I must have topped them up on a cooler day before :) .
Also needed to buy a bottle of Prestone screen wash to top up the reservoir as dash was giving me the “Achtung” vibes.
I did make a grave error though…I left the remnants from the dog walk in the boot, maturing all day, so when I just went to grab the screen wash out of the boot I was greeted with a rather unique bouquet. A few squirts of Febreze later and hopefully it will atomise a bit with the heat and resolve the issue by tomorrow

Watched the brilliant blue of the car continue to become brilliant dust.
Week two of the hosepipe ban :( (and we lost all water for the morning as subsidence cracked the main).

Half tempted, when it rains here next week, to go out in it and wash the car as it's going to be September at the earliest before I will be able to use a hosepipe here....

Luckily we don’t have a hosepipe ban here but mine is still covered in dust the same as yours, it’s just too flippin hot to even think about cleaning it

When and if it rains next week that will knock a lot of the dust off :)

If you can find a professional detailer you trust, they are a business and should be exempt from hosepipe ban. One good reason to use a pro is that they are likely to use far less water than alternatives.

Agreed agreed and agreed.

However, I actually enjoy washing the car (as I don't have to do it every day) and whilst I would love to have £300 to £500 to have it properly detailed, and can't justify that.

Do I enjoy it enough to do it in the rain?
Perhaps ....

That is the best time to clean a car indeed whilst the dirt is softened by the rain. But who wants to look a complete pratt washing a car in the rain, not me :D

I cannot stress enough the importance of cleaning out your scuttle drains…

Below is an R170 that lives under trees - sycamore sapling growing out of the passenger side drain. Drain blocked and full of water - about to leak into the cabin via the heater fan (fan visible in second picture)

We vac and clean the scuttle and drains on every service. It's crucially important, as you say

A straight wash from a detailer shouldn’t be more than £80-150. Worth tiding you over until the hose ban ends, at least that is my plan :)

Which shows how fast the build up can occur - as I’m a bit more than confident that this SLK230 had clean scuttle drains earlier this year…;)

We get to learn the cars. Some customers park them I under all sorts and they are fully blocked after 12 months

You’ll no doubt find your pressures are too low now. You should check and set them when they’re cold - they can (and should) increase significantly when hot and after an extended run.

Surbiton and back suffering the M1 and M25 ( shudder!)

Best ever including time spent on the way down watching voyeurs watching a blazing Mercedes  and on the way back suffering stop start traffic by Junction 10

Very similar to us visiting our son in Nottingham in the E350CDI, 130 miles 49.4MPG.

Gotcha but I am running the pressures 2psi higher in any case as it fits my driving style better. I had checked the pressures again after the car was sitting for 2h and they were still 1.5psi high, so best to average out and drop them a bit in this heat, it wasn’t directly after a “spirited”run ;)

After needing to use curtain rods and then compressed air to clean out the drains on my 221, I loathe trees with a passion ;)

Been doing a fair bit on the CLK in the last week or so.
Finally sorted the twisted passenger seatbelt, waterproofed the roof and am 3/4 of the way through the interior trim change from the cold aluminium to wood.
Personally I love the difference as it makes the car interior look so much more warm and luxurious. See what you think.... 20220508_131255.jpg 20220814_165739.jpg IMG_2859.jpg 20220814_165716.jpg 20220508_131251.jpg 20220814_165744.jpg
