I Fancied a CLK, bought an SL350
Took in to get a small dent removed received in Tesco car park by other car door. … some people just do your head in.
Dent doctor?
It's marvellous how the dents can be removed these days without painting
It's painful parking most places these days, spaces ain't now where big enough, yeah there are some that don't care, I always use my hand to buffer other cars if needed, never seen anyone else do that.....
Hope you dent becomes invisible.

Another drive out in the sunshine today to get my fresh veg from the farm shop.
Also picked up a pot of Meah's Jalfrazi which is really good.
I hope this weather continues now until December...

Lovely weather today so:-

1. Treated all the "rubber" on the SL & My LR Discovery with:-

Gummi.jpg

Gummi Pflege translates to English as "rubber care" - am I using the correct product ?

2. Checked oil & screen washer levels, and tyre pressure all round, including spares, on both cars.

3. Lubricated the locks on both cars & all accessible hinges

4. Washed the SL - The Disco is only washed when serviced!

Yes good enough, stuff krytox is good too it’s what vw recommends for convertible roof seals. You can drip it onto a cloth and put on .

Starting yesterday I set out to change the E class rear springs and shock absorbers . After a few hours of attempting to loosen the lower control arm that seats the spring I gave up and went to plan B . Change the shock absorbers and rub down and rust proof the control arm that was an advisory on last years MOT .
Changing the shocks went reasonably smoothly and I’m sure at 125k they needed doing .
I think I’ll save the springs for an Indy to do when I’ve got a couple of other jobs I can’t do .

With the springs I first tried to loosen the inner bolt on the lower control arm where it meets the subframe . Got the nut off but the bolt would screw out or hammer out . I thought I’d cut my losses and stop before I caused any damage .
I then tried the bolt where it meets the hub . The caliper was in the way on one end and the brake disc shield was in the way on the other . I’m sure there’s a knack or more tools than I’ve got that will do the job (I’ve got a good selection though) .
My Haynes manual just says compress the spring and remove it …wtf !
Youtube looked like an hours work but some of the comments mentioned 2 days with bolts that won’t move or go back in again .

Discovered I have a leak in a n/s brake line. Got the dash message in red, Brake Fluid level low and its the second time in a month I've had to top up the reservoir.
Thinking I had a leak somewhere, I started the car and moved it forward from its parking spot to discover tell tale oily drops under the spot where the front n/s door rests. Down on my hands and knees I looked under the car and found brake fluid collecting outside the plastic shield that runs under the sill.
Down to my friendly non Merc garage and its booked in for new brake pipe and inspection next Tuesday. Luckily he makes his own brake pipes so any re-routing for the rear subframe won't be a problem if needed.

Neglected it for a year. Moving from a house that needed work doing to it before selling to another that needed work on moving in meant that apart from an oil change and a bit of suspension work to get through the mot I did nothing.
Promised to do better this year.
Today oil and filter change, clean up under the bonnet with wd40 and an old towel. Checked all fluids. Gave all rubbers a good dose of silicone oil. Did this because a rear window has been rattling. In fact it's been getting really loud. Still rattling, so I'll probably give it a few more doses before I think about investigating further. When my drivers window rattled this sorted it out.
