What is the best protective cover for my 450 sl ?top quality taylored cover ?or pramhood up & over style ?please advise as rain is due soon.

I'm not an expert, but based on the fact that a tailored cover sits snugly on the car, any grit or dirt on the car will be pressed into the paintwork. Fine for a perfectly cleaned and polished car but not much use of the car is in regular use. The pram style I assume you are referring to is one of those drive into and then fold over the top of the car things. As it doesn't touch the car, that would be ideal, provided it has some ventilation built in.
