Hey guys,

Just been reading this forum for a while its really useful. I have an 02 C220 cdi Manual and am having a "cut out" problem and by the sounds of it so have a lot of others.

Can anyone advise solutions tried etc. I am going to write a letter to MB and complain as obviously a batch fault. and is dangerous too!!!!

Mine cuts out if i open it right up in low gears, then goes into limp mode, once over 3000rpm will cut out.

Start the car again and its fine. Its frustrating,

why are MB's so unreliable???

Electronic power control, get your local dealer to do an injector leak off test for each injector. Usually a faulty injector puts the light on. hope that helps.

So, you haven't had the fault codes checked?
There are lots of causes for the safe mode to be engaged - by far the most common is the MAS sensor. You can hardly have a go at Merc if you haven't let them diagnose the fault. Safe mode is simply protecting you and the engine. Any sensor fault, severe enough to stop the ECU doing its job, will trigger safe mode, thats what its there for. As there are lots of sensors, its a common complaint. But thats what its designed to do!!
Its a symptom, not the problem. Chances are, a quick diagnostic and plug in a new MAS and she'll be as good as new.
