Hi NIE320

I would say your best bet would be one of the half-dozen, or so, auto-trader books is your cheapest source of reference. If you know a friendly auto-trader he might let you see his copy of Glasses Guide, the auto-trader's bible.

You can find Glasses Guide on the Web too but I think the evaluations are not free. I could be wrong though.

Hi NIE320.

There are lots of sources available, even free of charge, but they vary considerably. Amongst the more generous/kinder are the valuations on that tab of the What Car website and allow for age, type, spec and mileage. They offer 4 prices. For private sale, I hae generally aimed to get midway between what a dealer would charge, and what a dealer might give me for the car.

At the less charitable end of the scale is wisebuyers.co.uk who provide similar information but subject to the harsh reality of today's market.

I would have thought that a W210 Estate with 320 CDI and 7 seats is always going to be an attractive buy and I would pitch towards or at the top of whatever range of figures your research comes up with.

The only downside is that there is tremendous discounting in the new/pre-registered market at present and in particular on the current model E 220 CDI and that will have had an effect on their used prices too. So it is worth viewing them to see how by how much you need to concede in order to differentiate your car in the scheme of things.

just get on autotrader web site, punch in details as if buying one they will all come up! the market is flat its not what you ask, its what you can get, the estate was always a better bet but the later shape has been out long time now check the prices, i bought a e320 cdi elegance 2003 plate 100k fully loaded unmarked for £5500 2 weeks ago so its makes the 210 look a bit out of bed, sorry old car dealer talk! do some home work pitch it right with the price nothing worse than dropping it week after week people watch and will give you a killer bid to try to steal it! all the best ,rapido

As above, it's difficult to put a value on under the current conditions. Parkers lists private sale in the range 4-5k for something with 70k miles whereas Wisebuyer only lists 2.3-2.5k for something with 90k miles!

On autotrader there are quite a few similar cars at dealers at just under £7k - but are they selling? There are also a few at only around £5k.

Yours has 7 seats which is always attractive, but also lots of people are looking for leather and yours has cloth. Also at 90k miles the mileage is average rather than low, this shouldn't matter too much if it has a comprehensive service history and is up to date, otherwise expect people to bargain on this.

If you want to sell quickly try advertising at 4990 ono and see what the response is like, or you could try higher and then bring the price down after a week or so if there isn't much response, but don't be suprised if you get offers for a lot less! Maybe worth seeing what you would get p/ex and then just trying to see if you can get a bit more privately?

Good luck.
