Well I have had some quite serious threads on here about my new purchase so here is a more light hearted one!

I'am now the proud owner of a 1982 280SLC C107 with a differance - it has been re engined with an OM603 diesel from a W124 E300!

I think the conversion has been rather well done on the whole and i'am rather proud of the old girl - just one question - what model should I call her?

I reckon it is a 300DSLC and I fancy trying to make a badge with bits from other mercs but as allways it is over to you!

Here is a pic for the minute and for the curious I shall upload an engine pic later!

As promised under the bonnet - any thoughts on how to make up a badge for the beast? Before anyone points it out I know the throttle cable is a mess - it wasent my doing - honest!

Thanks they would do the job but a bit modern for this beast, I am think about cutting a couple of SLC badges up, brazing them together then re plating - a load of work but I quite like the idea of having the right badge, as malcolm points out I'am thinking SLC300d, any further thoughts, this is easier than sorting the vacuum system at least!

The throttle linkage is very different on the original 107, hard to convert, if you ever want to change it email Nigel again as he has done a nice job on that in the past.

Re the badge, you could try and source a '300SDL' badge from europe/the states which would be the same size as the SLC badge, so you could cut it and make a new one using the 'D'!

Yes quite, a careful cut and positioning with some double backed tape will do the job!

Thanks Rob re the 107 throttle I shall drop him a line, a plan is not readily forming on that one, the old one actually pushes instead of pulls from the bulkhead so I'am thinking of a crank system but I dont want the throttle to be heavy as well!

Why not get the "300" and the " diesel " badge from a 124 diesel.

So you end up with "300 SLC" on the left and "Diesel" on the right hand side when viewed from behind.

Regards
Bill
