What questions would you ask another R230 owner?

I was behind an SL55 earlier today and was going to ask him a couple questions if I got a chance..

I find myself leaning towards the following questions every time I see another R230

• How long you had the car
• How many miles (In your ownership?)
• ....Any problems with ABC?

I'm always curious of these because ABC is a big point of discussion on these cars and really detract from everything else that is so good (Including ABC) about these cars.

I am planning on creating a survey.. and might ever set up a simple dedicated website presenting the data and hopefully evangelise the car a bit.

(I know the 350 doesn't have ABC by default).

The best looking nicest ride but comes with eye watering possibilities only mitigated by having the ability to work thru issues oneself or having deep pockets. A timeless looking motor, it won't ever date but Benz design criteria means it's unlikely to be an sl300 of the future

But I see that r230.info is available.. the plot thickens.

I have a hypothesis that the issues around ABC/PSE etc aren't as prolific as people might think.. I would be curious to get a significant amount of data to back that up, via surveying/polling current/previous owners.

r129.info is already being run for a similar purpose so I had to but buy r230.info

ABC trouble-free

We've had 3 r230's
First ABC issue was the small radiator for the suspension leaked when a bolt had come loose and wore a tiny hole in the side. r230 number 1.
Second ABC issue was the N/S front strut dribbled its expensive liquid content onto the pavement. r230 number 2.
Third ABC issue was the pump vomited green icky stuff over the pavement. r230 number 2.
Forth ABC issue was the pump vomiting green stuff too over the garage floor. r230 number 3.
Fifth ABC issue was the ride level thingy inside the N/S strut. r230 number 2.
Sixth ABC issue was the level thingy inside the N/S strut. r230 number 3.
Over a total of about 7 years and a total mileage of more than 60,000 mls combining the 3 SL's
You'll notice r230 number 1 was the most trouble free and did 23,000 mls in that one.

Faster than I ever want to drive it. No difficulty in overtaking and no problem with people riding my rear bumper.
