Hi to all:D
I am disabled and buying a 1998-1999 Mercedes V230 auto, I know they have a lot of problems:rolleyes: but so do most cars, what should I check when I test drive one??????
Also I know the air suspension is as much good as my legs:) and I have heard you can switch to coil springs, I am fine doing the work my self, but what I need to know is where do I buy the springs from???? and what motor are they for???? or is it a known conversion????.
I want you all to know I think you have a great club, and I am proud to be a member;)
Yours

Not done the conversion myself but basically a Vito van is the same vehicle but with rear springs & dampers. You may want to look into spring rates though, as a van is designed to carry heavy loads & may be a bit hard (or high) in a V class.

Hi thank you to you all, the springs off a vito van sound just the right thing for me, I will check the prices today.
Also one more thing, has the V230 got a cam belt or cam chain??

All MB are chain driven. Open the drivers door and rock the vehicle side to side, it will probably knock, if it does it needs anti roll bar bushes. As for the spring conversion, I think it's a bit more than just changing the air bags for springs, when the conversion was done they use differnt bits to carry the air bags as opposed to the spring carriers.
Hope it helps.
