Hi All

I have a 2000 E220cdi with 60K on the clock and I have noticed that the temp gauge only gets to about 50c. This seams a bit cold as my last car (E230) used to sit at around 80c.

Does anyone know what temp is usual for a cdi engine?

Cheers

cdi temp

Hi Hillman.

My 270cdi with 120k mls started to run cooler and the heater took ages to warm. I asked an independant Merc specialist to look at it,asking him to check the thermostat. He said he reset some fault codes, although there was no warning light. Car is now warmer, faster, and about 9 mpg better than before, without touching the stat. I phoned him today to ask what codes he saw but he cant remember. Doesn,t seem logical but there you go ! As regards correct running temps, even now my gauge rarely goes above 60. I know that all diesels run cooler than most petrols, my last diesel C250 heater went cold after 5 mins idling in cold weather. It would help if a diesel expert cares to comment further.
