Most manufacturers are now producing a range of Eco models. `Which' have carried out road tests on a batch of them and found that the resulting economies are not all they appear to be and in most cases are merely optimizing the vehicle performance to suit the test cycle and not in general use.
The one thing they have found which disturbs me is that in going for lower resistance tyres the braking distances have deteriorated giving 10 - 15 % longer stopping distances . The worst in the tests were the Skoda Fabia and Vauxhall Corsa, both taking 4.5 metres longer to stop from 62mph, road holding has also deteriorated.
I cannot find any stopping data info on the Mercedes Blue Efficiency (CLC) does anyone know of any ?

yes, eco tyres do give poorer road holding and a worse ride. My car has wide tyres, costs me 1-2mpg (more if its raining) but goes round corners like its on rails.
All technology is a compromise and if they push towards economy its bound to have an contra impact elsewhere.

add to the above, eco tyres have less tread depth when new, so not so eco then.
