what uses 722.3 ?

I'm interested in changing my 722.5 gearbox in my 1990 300CE for a 722.3.for a performance build.
Anybody done this or know reasoably cheap source of them ?
Do only 90-93 s500 sl500 use them and what about the bell housing ?

Your question requres too muh serching for me to do, its not only the 722.3 numbers its also what comes after the 3-- you could do a search of the cars around the same age from here.

What do you think the maximum safe hp
you could put through the 722.501 02384170 transmission.
I've been told that it wouldn't cope with 350hp.I'm not sure what box the AMG model used ,maybe a modded version or used more friction plates.
Any ideas ?

That box was used for all of the 500's they were putting out 300+ hp. I think it was the same box for the AMG's with a lot more.

Really that is good news.
Its on my 1990 300CE 24V if the Russian site is to be trusted. It matches up with my VIN decode.
Do you know where can I find out what my current diff ratio is. I'm sorry to be a pain. Someone told me it was 2.67. Its quite tricky to find out about these things ts not in handbook,mercedesCD or haynes.

That is a hard one again as all of the info was on micro film, I will be doing some serching Tues eve, I will have a look.

It's likely to be the 3.07 on yours.

Mine is 2.65

Do not think there was a 2.67, however there was a 2.87 on the 300 TE (Estate)
