Everytime I stop to park and select reverse the revs go up to between 2k-3k and the car then jerks but then for the rest of the parking manuever it won't happen again until I start the engine the next time even if its emmediately there after or the following day. As long as I select reverse the revs go up. To avoid the jerks I put the shift in neutral which also result in the revs going up and just blip the gas pedal and the revs go down to normal and then I can put the shift in reverse with no jerks. I'm taking the car in to be checked up this week and for a service since the car must have been sitting around for a long time without use. Car is a 1992 190e 1.8 auto and I got it 3 weeks ago for £425.

I would have said that there something mechanically caught up some where, and I cant see this as an electrical problem.

I could be wrong, we often get new faults, even after 20 years

A mate has suggested a tranny fluid change (which I plan to do in a couple of months) but the gear changing is smooth all the way and no rough idle at all when stuck in traffic or on traffic lights/junctions.

I agree with Malcolm that their must be something mechanically hung up. Start with the mechanics controlling your cold start such as a faulty cold start valve and go from their since it only happens till you press your accelerator.

Hope this Helps!
