After driving around aimlessly for about an hour today in the sun (just because it is fun to do so in such a car) and then pulling up at a petrol station, I realised what the best thing about my car was. It wasn't the 5.5 litre V8. It wasn't the tiptronic autobox (read full-throttle gear changes). It wasn't the styling. It wasn't the heated seats (great as they are on a cold day). The best thing about my car was that I could just step out and press one button to make all the windows and sunroof close.

little things and all that...

I went out at 8Am this morning for rolls and bacon for breakie...I could have taken the Van but decided to take the Slk (my Wifes).
It ws only a 5 min journet but when i got back the wife asked what took me so long?
I just had to go on a great wee detour as there is a cracking road just up from us.
Roof down and foot down .....says it all!!

The great thing about this car is...It is just great fun when you are in it!!!:)

The best thing about my old E, was the feeling of beating the system. I bought and ran the whole car for a year for less money than the options cost on our new car.

I love driving my 500 SEL because it is a fantastic piece of motor engineering :) I love owning it it because it is such an awesome thing of beauty :) Everywhere you go people want to talk to you about it in a non threatening positive kind of way :) It isn't depreciating any more :) The design was penned in the very early eighties at a time when executive cars like Mercedes and BMW actually looked the part and they were very very desirable.I was working hard to make ends meet then, and every time that I saw one i would look in amazement and think to myself " one day............." I love it because any spare time that I do have I can lose myself for a few hours restoring it or giving it a clean and then putting it back in the garage ready for the next sunny day:) i love it for the fact that it only does 25 mpg and it doesn't matter anymore:)

When I got mine two years ago, the was to keep it for a year and try something else.
Problem is I just cannot find anything that comes close to it! (not within my budget anyway)

The feeling it gives me every time I drive it (or just look at it). I can have had the crappiest of crap days at work I get in my Mercedes and it just doesn't matter anymore, now that to me is worth money.

Actually, there's something else I've never experienced before. After an hour of fun driving, I got out, walked through the front door and didn't feel tired, yet I still enjoyed the trip.

I ran a 23 year old car for 6 months as my everyday car. 25 mile round trip to work every day, 1500 miles over xmas, never let me down (save for a snapped fan belt and a dodgy batch of ebay glowplugs) once. I honestly don't think there are many cars like that. Not a pampered classic, an old car that is still perfectly reliable. And it looks ace!

the loan car I get every time something goes wrong on it.....:(

seriously, the looks. I still think it looks great. I still give it a glance when I walk away from it. Bit like Kate Moss really, great to look at but very high maintenance....

The driving experience gets me,

Oh and the fun of getting boy racers off the lights in it because they don't expect it! :)

The other day I had this clio next to me, bass going, baseball cap on, and a bitch....

There's nothing better than showing them up infront of their girlfriends!

She's a good old street sleeper :)

Hehe. The little pleasures of life... :)

Driving it when it's clean and shining.

Just been to get a paper this morning in mine. Could've walked to the local shop in a few minutes, but ended up doing a 65 mile round trip. Just because I could really. The television page is wrong in it as it's from another region (probably went a bit too far really) but a small price to pay for an enjoyable little blast over the Pennines :)
Also it's a lovely morning here with the sun shining, yet still that cold crisp air which the supercharger seems to thrive on. Came back on a nice long bendy single carriageway, but it was a bit wet and shady so had to calm down a bit. Just looking for another excuse to go for something else now. May go down to B & Q for something. Just have to decide which depot. It certainly won't be the local one ;)
