Where is the engine number

Hello all, being a mere female and having an interstate C180 Classic, I need to find the engine number for registration purposes. I know its down the front right of the block as you face it, but am having trouble locating it..any handy tips would be appreciated. Obviously I am not good at hide and seek. Cheers. Gail

I think that you will find it is on the left when facing the car, it is just above the seam where the sump bolts on, the other side has too many parts attached
