Which Engine Oil

I have a 2004 c class coupe 220 cdi. I would like to know which oil is best for UK use.
I've seen some Mercedes 0-30 low ash on Ebay, and although I know I don't need the low ash, would it be ok to use it anyway.
Or would a different brand etc suffice.

Whatever is specified in your handbook frozen in time is out of date as oil technology has moved on , a more recent Mercedes oil specification or for that matter another manufacturers oil specification will be superior .

Pick a good oil compay like -Castrol Shell Mobil or oil of your choice put your reg number in the box and see what comes up .

Oil company does not matter as there is industry standards , a spec is a spec .

My 2007 (which I bought in 2007)CLK had a low ash oil sticker next to the oil filler cap.
After a service at MB I asked what oil they had used and it wasn't the low ash.When I asked why they said because it doesn't have a DPF fitted.Someone on here supplied me with a spec sheet & lo & behold no DPF,so no need for low ash oil.
Why the sticker....??

Gaz a company would not let you purchase oil for a mercedes that could cause damage .I have purchased oil every time doing this .Pick a good oil company and ask them what is recomended for your engine. Or do what most do in this case, and visit Mercedes .

I never ues oil from superstores who knows where it was made .Cheap as chips i can see that , but you only get what you pay for .Ok to use as a flush out before you load up with a good oil .
