Today I visited a well know motor shop to buy some brake light bulbs, On my trips down the isle I was going to pick up a bottle of redex, but was unsure which one would be safe to use, some said they work with turbos, some said safe with supercharges, some said nothing at all. Ive got a CLK 230 Komp, I was going to use a bottle of Redex advance (the one that said nothing) Has anyone else used this ?

How old is CLK because I think that Mercedes state that additives will invalidate the warranty?

they would find it very hard to prove that any additives were introduced, but if you think about the actual validity of additives such as the redex cleaners. You are mixing something like 25mm of chemical with a full tank of fuel maybe 10 gallons of petrol, i dont think they do anything, if they were that concentrated it would be a controlled substance.

Hi clk, As regards additives it was common practice in the past to add a tablespoonful of oil per gallon of petrol as a cure for sticking exhaust valves . (The exhaust valves get very hot and gummy deposits form round the stem causing them to stick open). Redex could have the same effect if you were having such a problem.

Could I just use any Redex then, even if it says nothing about turbochargers ? Thanks

I always understood the the additives used for cleaning the injectors would not affect the turbo, as there is no direct contact with the fuel system, there is Millers and Wynns

Just had my A Class serviced(MB dealer) and noticed they had added Wynns. Now normal apparently.
