whistling turbo

hi all havnt been on here for a while , have got a whistlling turbo on my 2005 w211 320cdi , could it be split in one of the pipes ? or something more serious and will it be ok to drive the car like this ? thanks daz250

thanks for the reply steve,would that be anything to do with the turbo boost censor sending to much pressure to the turbo ? thanks daren

My Turbo whistled had a bit/lot of black smoke the fix was a £3.20 O-ring from MB on the inlet side of my Turbo.

turbo

hi thanks for the reply, mine is not smoking yet but the exhaust smell is not as it woz, had a look at the turbo this morning and there is no play on the impaler/empaler!!!!!!! blade

It is quite common for turbos to whistle when cold. Usually goes away when hot. I found that using heavier engine oil (15/40) made the whistling worse. Mine has been doing it for years with no issues.
