why do i keep getting work like this?

hello all, what a nice job i got. A trader i do work for has bought a 2000 c220 petrol 4 cylinder (nice car). The only problem is the engine was removed by a enginearing company to repair a head problem (unknowen). Then the engine was put back in by somebody else (who i can only persume is blind). I now have the car to "FINISH OFF!!!" Most or the wiring loom on the engine looks correct but the rest of the engine bay wiring was a mess things pluged in incorrectly the three plugs on the left hand inner wing were on the exhaust side of the engine as was the auto box wiring. I have tided most of it up now the problem I have is guess what no start!! the engine will not crank there is no feed to the starter if i jump the starter motor the car starts runs and drives fine. I have looked at the wiring diagram and it show one wire to the motor (other than the main feed from battery) but the instrution on "wis" show two small wires, the one i have goes to the ECU can anyone tell me where the other wire goes too, a loom layout diagram would be great. Nuppy Im sure ur dealer friend can get his hands on a similar motor and that i have found is the best way to sort these problems.. I mean to use as a guide ,, not to keep if u know what i mean
