Hi All,

I was on my way this morning to the stealer for a set of new wiper blades (£38+vat for the set by the way), and bugger me - the passenger wiper arm died!!

There were a few muted clicks for the first 5 mins. of driving (the first time it has rained in AGES), then it stopped halfway across the screen, to be pushed back by the other returning, where it remains.

I had a look at it earlier on and there seems to be no way to get at the motor/gearbox area so i'm kind of stuck. I have read phillharves thread, but i still cannot figure how to get at the 'gubbins' , to find out what's broken....
Thanks in advance
rob

Hard to describe, take off two wipers. Put the bonet to the upright possition. the water cover lifts off, by using a hook under the front edge, when that is off you can see what part of the linkage that has come off.

Hi robbi-wan

You were lucky!

I hope my thread 'wiper dragging' acts as a warning to other members not to ignore wiper problems until it's too late.

REGARDS Phil

Hi Phil,
It was more than lucky (groan)
Anyway - i shall endeavour to expose and lubricate the nylon gear just as soon as the weather is a little more suitable, to try and head off this particular inevitability.
Incidentally, my front wipers were in need of replacement - which constantly left smearing on the screen, and the wipers were always trying to clear it on auto setting, it was starting to drive me batty!
Although there was little evidence of dragging at the time - just smearing on the screen, i guess one will lead to the other
