Just purchased a pair of genuine MB Cordless headphones (Part No: A222 820 1889) for the rear entertainment system on my W222 as the original one were missing when I bought the car. However they don't pair/connect with the car. Not much info on "google" but it seems they have to be coded at a Dealership?? Anyone has experience of this who could offer advice

Thanks

Steve

No idea I’m afraid but I assume they are Bluetooth so should not be too difficult, Mercedes do like their coding though.

Robin - they are not Bluetooth. Operating instructions says "Wireless 2.4GHz ISM Band"

There will probably be a method of pairing them, with luck it will be in the manual for the rear ICE

Problem fixed! - There is a secret Dealer menu on COMAND where you just add the UID numbers of the accessories you want to pair to the car. Access the menu by highlighting "SYSTEM SETTINGS" and holding the Comand control knob to the left for about 10 seconds. Follow the photos to take you to the pairing menu. Took about 2/3 minutes after several hours of internet searching!

Steve, thank you for posting this pairing process. I have been searching for this pairing process for my 2013 GL550 (x166) for a long time and didn't find anything until I came across your post. Can you explain how you determined the UID of the headphones you wanted to pair?

UID number should be on a sticker inside the headphones where the batteries are

Hi, I have been having the same issue! I purchased some AKG P104 OEM headphones of eBay and not been able to get them working. What headphones do you have for you GL? Did you manage to get them paired?

no I did not. I can get to the dealer service prompt but without the UID number I cant complete the process. Do you know where the UID numbers are located on the P-104 headsets.?

Hi I'm having the same issues with my newly bought headphones from ebay. The remote control works fine but I can't get to pair the headphones. Tried the dealer menu by pressing hang up 7+9 and the option to "add kleer device" was greyed out.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out my s550 is a 2017 the instructions in the service menu above are very similar you must find the Kleer selection in the service menu. My uid numbers were on a sticker under the headset foam of the earpiece with the power switch. The foam does pull off and can be replaced without issues. once you are in just add a new headset or remote then select the UID numbers one by one and they will load. It looks complicated but just take your time..No dealer is needed,, they probably charge hundreds to do this..

Just done this on a 2016 GLE, can’t be done in the engineering menu and has to be done via adaptations in the rear screens via Xentry.

I have tried this in Xentry but every time I have added the UID number and press the tick ✔️ button to add the headphones, I get an error as shown in the photos.
What gives?
Has anyone else had this and if so is there something I’m missing?

Have you cleared out the old ones?
There might be a limit as to how many can connect

I can’t delete as my Xentry does not connect to the ecu when I press the ✔️
I get the following message:
‘The control unit has rejected the diagnosis service required by Xentry Diagnosis.’

‘Possible causes:
The requirements are not met.
The vehicle must be at a standstill
An unexpected error occurred’
