There was no previous problems or noises from gearbox just went 9ut one morning and it wouldn't take a gear. Showing up on dash D R P etc when I put it in gear but no movement tried launch code reader but not picking up any faults at all. Just happened out of the blue I've checked the fluid and topped it up a little got the dipstick needed with the marks at 25° level looks good. Has me confused now and I don't want to just keep throwing money at it. Is this a common thing I can't seem to find anything much on it.

Really need a bit more info, but...does the engine rev when you try to move away as though it's in neutral? any other symptoms that might help diagnosis?

No it revs to 1000 rpm with my foot to the floor in drive or reverse in neutral and park it works as it should and revs high. No other symptoms traction control doesn't work now it did work before this all started. The car doesn't move at all when in gear

This is a bit of a long-shot, but I'm wondering if the brakes are jammed on hard, such that the engine is unable to pull against them. Other than that, I'm thinking along the lines of a transmission problem.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Car rolls freely definitely not stuck brakes it is a transmission problem but I can't see any fault codes just thought it might be a common enough problem don't want to keep throwing money at it if I can help it. Thanks for the reply tho

OK; worth a try anyhow! If you get any joy with it, let us know as it might help someone else in the future.

I remember my e320 i was in a car park at a factory it was covered in ice and i just couldn’t get the car to move or to rev at more than 1000rpm…i got some lads out to push me off and got away..later i noticed the switch to switch traction control off which then allowed the wheels to spin without shutting down..
if your drive / prop shaft has broken or one half shaft that would be the same to the car as being on ice…

It's not even raining here buddy not a TC issue it's a transmission one car won't move in gear not even trying I have ordered icarsoft mb v2.0 so hopefully that might give me a code when it arrives if not just want to know is there any other issues that could cause this. I was thinking it could be the gearbox filter might need changed but would it just happen out of the blue like that or would it not give a few problems/signs first? What about speed sensor or something like that? Would it cause the car to not move when in gear it will roll if I push it when it's in gear only tried moving a couple of feet but it moves.

The common problems are with the electronics. The pilot bushing leaks fluid into the connector and this can wick along the cable into the TCU.
Other than that, the electroplate is a common issue area. Not too bad a job.

Get back when you are able to read the codes from the TCU though as it will be better than pure speculation.

Hi I'm new here and I apologise if this is old which I know it is but your issue is the only one on the whole Internet I can find that sounds like mine. I've got another gearbox and torque converter ready to fit. Did you have to recode your gearbox to the car I'm getting mixed answers. 722.6 with om648.

Read with interest. I wud have thought of tc it would, from the op description be electrical a lock up or fill solenoid. It's difficult to see a tc working in the evening and u/s on am. Mechanically speaking.
