225 60 R16. Are the tyres currently fitted

I believe the ones I should have on the car are 225 55 R16

With 16" wheels, the correct tyre size is 225/60R16 . . . what you already have . .

Dont buy budget tyres.
I always had premium tyres on my new cars, and so continued when they needed new ones.
I always wondered was it all hype? etc. After all rubber is rubber ;)

I inherited budget tyres on this one.
Very scary in the wet! I could make them break adhesion by just coughing!
Bit of a minefield isn't it

I'm have been looking at budget/midrange brands....falken. Uniroyal. Still have not decided

There are plenty of cheap cheap tyres on the market, but if you think about it, what you should look for is the cheapest per mile.

If these GY Eagle F1 Assy 3s are £166 each and budgets are £75. Would could say you are saving £91 a corner.
I would say you are wasting £75 a corner. If the rears break away so easily ... I assume they would skid just as easily.
Hence I dont even put them on the A Class shopping trolley.

Both Falken and Uniroyal are decent mid price tyres and I would recommend either for your S class.
I have been using Falken tyres on my E55 for the past 4 years and they give exceptional grip in both wet and dry and last well.
Look for Falken ZE914's. If you are feeling flush, Goodyear F1 Assymetric tyres are a great choice.

Re Tyreleader. I have had the opposite experience to the OP in Post#9. Used them 4 times and no problems with any delivery. They have certainly been the cheapest for the sizes I wanted.

To call the Falken ZE914 a mid price tyre is only half the story, it is as good or better than most of the premium brands. Certainly better than the Michelin Primacy 3 tyre. Also, the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 "The Rain Tyre" is another excellent choice. You do not need to pay premium prices for great tyres.

No they are not...you have the correct ones on already. 225/55 was mentioned when you told us wrongly you had 17" wheels. This thread is daft. Do some research about what the tyre markings mean...you are confused from the very start...and seem to remain so.

As a relative new comer to this club I understood it was to help members who may not have the expertise of some more knowledgeable members. Not to slate them for time wasting if time is too precious then why bother answering the questions at all.

There's a little budget brand bashing going on here, now I agree a lot of the are absolute carp but just occasionally a good one comes along, case and point are Nexen tyres, I've used them now for about 5 years (probably done around 120k in that time) and they are excellent in both the dry and wet, very responsive and predicable and wear extremely well (I normally get 20-25k per set), they also have been proved to out perform some of the premium brands in independent tests.
So don't discount the cheaper brands and think they are a waste of money, they can often surprise you, also consider what your budget is and the type of conditions you will be asking of the tyres.

You're right (in a way), but if you ask someone to take the time to find the correct answer, it's only good manners to take the time to give the right information . .

Only if you know the information to start with. Quite often it's that very information a members looking for.

Agreed Matt
Vredestein, Cooper, Uniroyal, Semperit, Nexen, Falken amongst the mid range tyres I’ve used have been excellent and pound for pound excellent value. In all honesty i’ve Never used the real budget end but again some of these get good reports...
Bridgestone and Yokohama I wouldn’t touch and they are high end brands!

Personally I think tyres purchases are down to personal choice, depending on what your budget is, how you use your car,and your driving habits. One person can get great service from one particular brand while another person won't.
It's like I get great mileage out of brake pads (I've always been light on brakes) another guy will change them yearly.

For that car I would look at the Goodyear Efficient Grip, for £100 each represent good value, well rated with an A for wet grip and very quiet and they will last well.

My missus has Goodyear Efficient Grip on her Focus and the car is on rails cornering. An excellent quiet tyre.

Used to have a C63...
Another brand I would happily use again is Avon. Set of Avon Ice Touring performed superbly on my CLS, even into Spring when temps rose a bit.

He was slated for being too lazy to go out to his car and write down what it said on the tyres. You learn by forming a correct question not wasting our time. Even then he refused to read what had been said and mixed the information up without gpoing oops, my bad sorry...let's start again. And you are wasting our time too by keeping it going.

Sorry, thought this was a place for help and discussion....
Is it now a forum where we vilify others for making errors?
Generally I find good natured comments the most productive and interesting, I for one have only limited technical knowledge to offer, but some experience of mistakes made and happily will share for the benefit of others...
Make that a lot of mistakes...
