Look at the full exhaust. If the pipes from both banks join into a single pipe there no point to an X pipe.

Will have a look but i guess thats kinda obvious LK but if it turns out to be the case i guess 2nd cat delete and back box mod is the only way

Be careful with a back box delete as it makes the car very loud which doesn't suit the car.

I had an x pipe and secondary cat delete on the 55, cost £600.
Don't do a rear box delete, did that on my 450SE, drive out of the exhaust centre, sounded okay, car dropped in to top gear at 30 mph and the vibration was unbearable, right up tho 50 mph. Drove straight back to the exhaust centre and got a temporary back box fitted as the original had holes in it.
A friend of mine raced a 300SEL 6.3 without a back box, he was after horsepower so vibes didn't matter.

£600 cost is because yours is an AMG where every costs 3x as much, my SL500 CAT delete and x-pipe was £200. :)

Have a chat to the guys at “Torque Flow”, work out of the MSL performance centre.
I had an X pipe, secondary delete on my 55 for around the £400 and a bit mark.
Happy with the work, nice sound foot down or foot off but do get a slight drone between 65 and 70 mph.

That's a good alternative, if you can weld stainless why not, just remember any burs or obstruction inside the exhaust will upset the running of the engine ;)
Hoping I am not teaching you to suck eggs, you maybe quite capable of doing this work :)

No need to put the secondary Cats back in, just don't touch the primary Cats.

So what actually makes the increase in noise , obvs removing the cats will increase it a little but in the past when ive measured before/ after its only a decibel or 2 , how does crossing the exhaust gases make the car rumble more ??
