Am I right in saying that with the passthru software and a 3rd party cable, I can do all diagnostics and programming as you would with a c4 unit? Are there any differences ?

You can certainly do the diagnostics. I don't know about programming but I don't see why not.

Cloned cables can be a problem because Windows 10 will update the drivers automatically and can completely brick the lead.

Thanks, yes been doing a lot of research and ended up buying a c4 unit for £1200 comes with 2 year warranty.
