No, not the face of a spotty teenager but the paintwork on my car!

Everytime I clean the car there are these hard yellow spots on just about every panel. I thought they were pollen but they are a bugger to remove, really hard

Have to use a fingernail, not good!

Any ideas what it is, how to remove without damage?

Have you been parked where some one has painted a house, if they come off with terps then that is the case

No, this happens all the time in the summer which is why I thought it might be pollen. It doesn't matter where I park, when I wash the car, there they are!

I rarely park by trees... but never mind, how do I get rid of them?

I get those quite large yellow spots and thought they may be bug related. When the sun shines my car kills quite a few bugs that decide to land on it, makes quite an effective fly killer whilst driving as well....;-)

Last weekend I had quite a few beige paint spots to remove, due to parking down wind of a diy'er. Still they came off easily enough.

I am suffering too from this problem, I never park near trees, but where i work is in the countryside, It sounds exactly the same symtoms, and i have come to the conclusion it is fly s**T, and yes, when the sun has been on it, it is a bugger to remove, I just wash the car and keep going over it again later, it does come off in time.:D

I quite agree with the fly poo theory as I've always thought the same.

It is quite easy Malcolm, it does not affect the handling at all, in fact i think it makes mine go even faster!;)
Regards geoff.

That cant be the case, surely the spots must slow the car down as the wind has to go over the spots and cause drag, I do my best to drive around the insects or blow the horn, the car stays much cleaner  each to his own:D

I tried that but Mr Plod didn't like it, especially as he was in the way! ;-)

What about golf balls?

They are made with dimples to break up air flow and so travel further.

And shark skin, very rough, lets them swim faster.

I reckon a good splattering of fly poo would reduce drag... :p:p

Don't know if that's a good thing or bad. They do seem quite sweet up here though, they always seem to smile, especially when they're nicking you. ;)

Not really, because the golf balls have dimples and the car has spots. It's the dimples that are the fast bits. If you put spots on a golf ball it would slow it down therefore making it possible to hit the ball a couple of yards.
