Your thoughts on a 1974 W114 MB230.6

hi guys. newbie here. i have a w123 and now contemplating on buying a w114 i saw in the ads. i checked the web and found out that the 230.6 uses a M180 6cylinder engine. my assumption is that the body is generally the same as the w115 and that the major difference between a w114 and w115 is that the w114 uses 6cylinder engines while the w115 uses only 4cylinder petrol and 5cylinder deisel.

i'd appreciate your thoughts particularly on the reliability, performance and ease of maintenance of a M180 engine. thank you.

Sorry no one has replied to you yet.
I own a 1973 W114 280e, so I'm not sure on the maintenance on the 230s, but on the whole, as long as you try to anticipate the aches and strains, these cars just keep running. The things that tend to go wrong (if the car has been looked after and serviced) are the consumable parts (fan-belts etc) also you need to look at the rubber seals and hoses and replace if perished.
