That may be so but he is an experienced politician with contacts deep within the party. He also has had a lifetime in politics which none of us has. Whether you agree with his views or not that experience cannot be denied.

Heseltine? Helped topple Maggie a lifetime ago, wants to do the same to May to prove he's somehow still relevant.

How else would the vain one get his face in the media ? its only by opposition he becomes attractive to the luvvies.

He has called Labour wrongly they want out but don't want to admit it, Corbyn is and always has been anti-EU his voting record speaks volumes.
Despite a very lack lustre TM offering more belt tightening they beat JC.
As I often repeat voters disillusioned with Brexit could have voted Lib Dum or Green they clearly didn't.

That may be, but his non party decisions whilst at the DoE wreaked havoc on homeowners along the Thames. Still after nearly 40 years of his poor decisions, nature bit back with his beloved home getting flooded well and truly. What goes around, comes around, just takes time.

He is the epitome of all that is wrong with politicians. Me first, then party, then fcuk the rest over and over :shock:

On the radio today a neutral commentator was outlining what had been going on in the negotiations around Britain's EU contributions.

3 very interesting things came out.

1) The Britain has NO legal obligation to pay the EU ANYTHING when we leave.
2) As a show of good faith we have offered to pay our dues up to 2020.
3) The EU have said no, we want more.

And WE'RE supposed to be the intransigent party in these negotiations???

Yes. because we are proposing a reduction in the state of order within the EU.

Conducting the Brexit talks was always going to be a "poisoned chalice" The eventual agreement will please very few, disappoint the majority and upset the rest - and there's not many votes in that!

But we'll all get over it and move on.

On the good-thing/bad-thing point; the wind of change is coming, you can build a wind-break or you can build a windmill.

Or you can stand there moaning that your fence might fall down. :)

Ive hedged my bets and replaced my fence with a colourfence https://colourfence.co.uk , before Anna Ryder Richardson was on the advert, so wasn't swayed ;)

25 year guarantee, rock solid, withstands winds we are unlikely to get, and looks like an Aussie garden!! Went for the blue with cream trellis along the back, and no trellis adjoining the neighbours.

The original wooden fence, thrown in by the builders who used left over mortar mix instead of concrete to put the posts in, lasted 25 years with a bit of engine oil & creosote sprayed on it, so this should see us out.

It's about the long term :shock:

Or alternatively the fence may be absolutely fine and we are worrying about it unnecessarily.
I'd rather not worry and be as sure as I can be it wasn't going to collapse before making any changes.

True, but when you can see the rental property next door deteriorating and more and more people arriving, you want to make sure that your fence is secure and up to the job, otherwise your garden will get taken over as well.

I'd rather talk to the neighbour, agree to remove part of the fence and have larger shared garden we can all enjoy more. That way we all benefit with no need to worry about fences.

That assumes your neighbour doesn't want your garden for his own as well. Or that the rest of your family want to share your garden with the neighbours. Or that you & your neighbor(s ) will always be on good enough terms to maintain sharing the garden. Or that you can come to an agreement over who should cut the lawn, weed the flowerbeds, reseed grass when the kids have played too much in certain areas. Or clean up when the neighbour's dog has left a steaming Junckers right in the middle of your side.

This garden sharing lark is fraught I tell you!

More worryingly then once you have opened up both gardens you are expected to pay for and maintain them both and clear up all the mess they leave especially when more and more of them turn up and nice as they are the garden just isn't big enough, oh and since you are paying for the maintenance of their garden now, you may as well them pay their bills for them in their house as you are better off. Then you can't afford to keep up the standards of your own house and your own kids don't eat properly, but don't worry as the street is wealthier for it.

See what happens when you don't maintain your fence? All for the want of a tin of creosote.

A great analogy, one where the Law has been refined over centuries and perfectly exampled by the many walls and fences that divide our plots.
Where we have free and unfettered access the visiting public leave a mess, vandalise, pinch anything and everything then bugger off home leaving someone else to sort out the problems they leave...........sounds very familiar the question is why do some not learn from it ?

You are describing gypsies, aren't you?

Round here we've learnt. Put in posts that if removed constitutes criminal damage, no need to wait the normal time for welfare visits, just get the Police yob bus (the one with the mesh on the windows and bull bars) and turf them out. Just hope there hasn't been times for defacating on the grass, sanitary towels in gardens etc, filthy fcukers
