why cant I buy just the brake light bulb

I do not think his comment was purely at you Malc, more likely several other established members who were intent on insulting him by telling him basically he didn't know what he was seeing!

I didn't have any blown brake light just yet, that why it didn't fail MOT

I been proactive looking for a spare in case it get blown up

I have to start sourcing a light cluster with bulbs in it

will the dealer still supply me with a bulb if I quote A 211 820 01 77?

is this 16 or 21 watts to comply with the law?

As I said earlier, I believe the fog light is used as an alternative in the unlikely event of this bulb failing but not sure.

hey I wont let this thread die, I dig the cluster from my storage, took the photo etc lol

My bulb broke when my mother reversed her Avensis to my parked Merc... really do not understand how thats possible, yes outer plastic went broken but I couldn't see any damage in cluster or bulb itself.

it may or may not be a "just in case". I started opening up the light cluster to find out why the message saying backup brake light, it more than 6 months ago, I cant remember precisely, that why I decided to find out whether I can get a replacement prompted my curiousity. it justifiable as the car is 10 years old

I am sorry, I didn't mean to create a drama, at least it educated some who don't know or aware of it, I am still looking for a replacement, there is still no answer, unless I buy the whole cluster with no bulb in it or £120 which may or may not contain some bulbs

I posted you ebay links to parts that may fit. You just need to get confirmation of the part number from the dealer.
A call to the dealer will also tell you if it has the required bulbs fitted.
