Home heating oil down to 22.5p per litre today...from 66p (or more for some poor sods) in 2013. More than halved in just over a year.

I've just been looking at the nominal rate of biodiesel; been considering it for a while for my oil burning fleet. It's now at around £0.61/litre down from around £0.80/l 4 years ago, when I first thought of looking at it. Still a 40% saving... I may yet go down this route.

Q, this just begs the question... how much control do MPs really have over the IPSA, behind closed doors, corridors of power, on the golf course etc...

...New minister asks why can't we just stop immigration, or have 7 days working in the NHS. The civil servants then have to explain why that might cause problems, and try to put it into action, when the last lot wanted something different. A thankless task.

Reshuffle!

Someone who knows nothing about edumacation is now parachuted in to know absolutely nothing about health.

Reshuffle! Start again!

Mad system where experts are told what to do by toady idiots and yes men/women.

This.

Be careful what you wish for...the bubble is about to burst...again.

Sort of agree with you ,but we have all been ripped off for years with fuel prices, and we still are if they passed on most of the cut to us we would and should be paying around 75-80p a litre .oil company's have had it good for many years putting up there prices knowing that we carnt do much to change it as we need to heat our homes and run our vehicles, and the the government ripping us off with amount of tax they put on top.so no good coming moaning now their profits are being hit they won't get much sympathy from most peps well not from me anyway

Me no, I'm way to rich to worry about this.

Just have cash its king.

Many companies are sat on lots of cash, Apple over $200 billion, the worldwide slowdown is caused by all that money pooled in the wrong places and a tax system that lets it happen.

Tax does have a use in recirculating money the weak politicians won't levy it though so eventually prices will drop enough for the City to orchestrate another round of acquisitions, take overs, mergers etc
The madness will continue in yet another money go round.

Google has probably blow $10 billion on Motorola, imagine if Gordon Brown had done that :)

We will lose some more of our well known companies, they will be stripped bare and the spoils sent abroad remember ICI ?

Lets hope we end up with something out of the bun fight.

Home heating oil or paraffin, yes you can run all diesels on it, but it doesnt have enough lubrication in it for diesel systems, pumps old or new... so you do need to add some 2 stroke or engine oil

Good news, we are due a fill up shortly, our tank is nearly empty. I remember when it was 72p a litre round here, a couple of years ago.

The duty payable on bio/B100 remains at the same as on petrochems. / aka dino diesel, (something like) 58p/L.

Once the 20 p/L RTFO 'kick-back' was removed recently for the small bio brewers using used oil, the market was doomed and they all went to the wall.

Those selling biodiesel cheaper than derv. are therefore selling it as 'heating fuel' with no duty paid. It certainly doesn't stack up now as it didn't at the heady prices of last year!

Woops, I meant the nominal rate of making your own biodiesel- not anything available at the pumps.

Ah, I see. You know about the personal exemption, (2500 L) I presume?
