I have tracked down the bloke who took the Co2 readings 300,000 years ago, I can tell you I'm beginning to doubt his methods, he's on the left.

This is one of my issues when they state "since records began" I pretty much ignore everything they say - we've only been keeping records for the past couple of hundred years - the planet has been here for significantly longer than that... and been through a great many natural disasters and changes in those years.- The 18 month dark spell in 536 AD most likely attributed to a Volcano being a particularly low point (in temperature and sunlight...)

I'm not saying we as a species aren't having an affect, I'm saying their data is useless.

Used to have a C63...
I remember having a discussion with a very animated young lady a few years back about global warming cycles.

She was quite adamant there weren't cycles. I asked her about the ice ages, and how come we're not in one currently... yup, all our doing. She went full Greta when I pointed out Range Rovers weren't around back then, so it couldn't be due to them! :D

On a slight side note to the thread, Hoovies Garage has just done a short review of towing with his Ford Lightning EV pick-up... confirms what most of us knew would be the case, but does beg the question what small businesses are supposed to do come 2030.

Well, interestingly Co2 isn't distributed evenly around the globe so taking an ice sample at one of the poles is not necessarily accurate.

Astonishing, one would never have thought it would go that way.

My Diesel Jellybean actually costs 11.5p per mile at todays prices, but I guess they are using the average "family car" for the examples to get the 21p.

There is no way any UK government would allow EV's to be run cheaply.
The lost revenue from road taxes has to gathered elsewhere.
Various taxation methods will be introduced (pay per mile etc) and motoring with either a fossil fuelled or EV will become more and more expensive as the years go by.

I can see a point in time where only the very wealthy will be able to afford private ownership of a car. Car ownership will be reduced or we face gridlock.
The rest of us will need to rely on a much improved and affordable public transport system.
Not in my lifetime though.

having lived in Germany and the NL for many years its a shame we Brits never built a cycle infrastructure and culture. Good for the body, mind and environment. For many small trips as effeciient as car.
Nothing better than going to the pub, having a few beers then hopping on the bike home.

No money in it for tyrants and simply too much benefit to human life as well as being the best thing to do for helping the environment.

I like riding my bike. I also like driving my Biturbo. A man needs both. Live together in peace.

Absolutely, the world would be a wonderful place if greed, corruption and egotism didn’t have any place in it and compassion which breads so much goodness was flowing free.

I used to go out for my morning ride at 5:30am - 6:30am only because the roads were quieter/safer. The busier the roads were the more chaos there was. I just don’t feel the roads (generally) are a safe places to ride a cycle. Probably get stabbed as well as knocked off lol.

Having been shown the horrendous traffic problems caused by a cycle lane obsession in the Netherlands I will be glad to navigate around without them and feel better about the environment.

My new neighbour is having extensive remodelling work done on his house before moving in and to give some context he is a widely published medic.

Why do I mention that? well, he has just told me tonight his solar panels will be running his house, air-source heating, charging two electric cars and heating a plunge pool.

To which I said,
"Are you planning on using my roof as well?"
oh and I presume you're going away for 6 months of the year.

He plans to move in January, should I take a hot water bottle as a housewarming present?

Or a very long extension lead?
