They’ll need coding...
They’ll also not be compatible with your AMG...:p
I did find another supplier who will print your own badge on it and I thought about getting ones with AMG instead of the flag - and then I came to my senses!

I could really confuse them and get an NZ flag with GB underneath...(or vice versa).

Well I fitted my GB stickers this morning. Not sure about them because they are smaller than the Euro badge and the blue is much darker but they’ll do for the moment. I may well just get some new plates done in due course. 778E7DD6-7ACC-473C-AF43-6BF8D2F9D0F7.jpeg

If you drive fast shouldn't it be "Green"? :D

I wasn’t sure whether you were tongue in cheek or being serious but I see the online plate suppliers also use the dark blue for the new GB badges so perhaps that our new post-Brexit blue.

I was joking, but who knows these days with the EU!

Am I correct in that It is only the EU that uses that style of plate?

You were probably right! I suspect the EU said you can’t have our colour and our side they wanted to chose their own colour!

Have also read the new regs and, although the new UK rules say you can have any of the National flags and ENG, SCOT, WAL etc, the only legal one which will be accepted in Europe is GB with or without the Union flag (except Spain, Malta and Cyprus who still require the old style GB badge for some reason).

I wonder if having that GB on there would do away with the need of having to have a GB sticker on your car if you were to go abroad.

Yes, GB or GB and the Union Flag on the number plate is sufficient for Europe except for Spain, Malta and Cyprus.

Yes, you are right, it is a '63 plate :)

The 'year letter' thing started in 1963/64 with the 'A' suffix (suffix meaning number ENDS with A such as "DEF 123 A". Then by skipping "I" "O" "Q" "Z" (and something else? we got round to around 1984 when it got back to A again but this time round the year letter was a 'prefix' (starting with A as in AJD's above picture.

I know of 2 people that have been pulled for incorrectly spaced number plates. One was given a verbal because he was gracious in defeat & he had the old, correctly spaced number plates still in the boot. The other had J33P ** on his Jeep & gave the copper a mouthful when he was stopped .... he was fined!

You now know of 3 people. I got a £30 fine. Suffix plate ending in S. The one number before the S was 3mm too far to the left. Had to turn up at the cop shop to prove it had been done.

U was the other letter that was not used.
Prefix format began on 1st August 1983.

Interesting fact about suffix format - when it first began 1st January was the anniversary date before changing to 1st August in 1967, which means that an E suffix only lasted for 7 months. :)
My dad had a 1966 D registration Mk.1 Cortina and my uncle had a 1967 E registration Vauxhall Viva.

On TV yesterday "Posh Pawn" I think the program is called. It was an older episode. Repeat from a few years ago. There was a red Rolls Royce being sold and that had the number VER 110 N and the owner had had what looked like a very thin black line painted between the 1's making it look like VERNON You could hardly see the line unless you got close.

I did a DVLA tax check and the plate doesn't exist (now). So I wonder if the police had had that plate confiscated.

Yes, but your baseball cap was on backwards ;):D:p

I'm thinking if his baseball cap 'was' on backwards then the cops wouldn't have pulled him over.

I get the impression that the cops will pull over nice cars driven by sensible looking people. That kind person accepts the fine without arguing and even thanks the policeman for the ticket and the cop can get on his way quickly to the next nice car with nice people inside.

Car full of yobs (with baseball caps on backwards). Cops won't go near them. Pull them over for a minor offence and the cop will get a load of lip and spend the rest of his shift in the station filling out paperwork and he won't meet his fine-value quota.

Wasn't there the same sort of jiggery pokery with the R, S and T plates?
