Hi All,

I have a A150 2007 and it has starting issues. Starter motor was replaced in April 21 and worked fine until around September. I've read alot of posts regarding what could be the issue and have tried to aliminate some causes. Mercedes have also looked at my car and have said the battery, connections and alternator are working as they should and the starter motor needs to be investigate more but that means 2 more labour hours. The issue I am having is the car tries to turn over but doesn't always and then seems to die. I put a booster pack on and leave for 10mins and it turns over. I read that the issue could be the starter relay so I took that out on Friday and tested it and it seemed to be working fine. Today when leaving work I tried to turn the car over too many times and it completely died. I then put the battery pack on and left for 15 mins but nothing, not even a clicking sound when turning the key. I can hear the fuel pump engaging though. I've left the battery pack on for a few hours this evening but still nothing. I was able to jump start it to get home but this is impossible to do alone. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the issue could be? Appreciate any help. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

Dont bother with an MB dealer for this type of job, it will cost you a small fortune.

Where are you located, perhaps a fellow member can recommend a MB independent for you (ie a non franchised MB specialist garage).

Was the starter genuine?

Dont guess - it gets expensive.

Hi Mioba,

Thank your for your reply.

I am based in the UK, Buckinghamshire.

Not sure on the starter as it was done by the previous owner and the invoice just states starter motor. I will contact the garage to see what they fitted.

I have read that there is two different starter motors for the A Class, one has an immobiliser. Could it be the case that the wrong one has been fitted?
