Just had the same, engine light on, 450 miles left before car will not start warning. Went to

Msc Prestige Garage

www.mscprestigegarage.com

and asked them to clean injector and metering valve. Initially they said main dealer only but with a bit of persistence they agreed to look at it and were surprised at the build up. Parts cleaned and faults cleared, recalibrated tank level. All ok now.

Welcome!

Sorry to hear this and I guess we’ll be hearing a lot more of this as EU6 Adblue cars age.
I’ve advised my son who’s running a W213 to keep it under extended warranty but at £40pm that adds up

I don’k know how MB have the brass neck to try and extract £2k from owners of relatively new cars when it’s their bad engineering at fault.

Good luck with it and I hope you find a cheaper fix the Ad blue system is hardly a consumable and should last the life of the vehicle
Because our glorious leaders allow them to f us over with it. Its just a f up system foisted upon owners because legislation allows it. I had the software adblue egr written out of my car. When, if they make it work properly I may re visit the situation. But until then I am not gettin fd over by benz.

get some of the crystallisation (gout) cleaner in the tank - if that bad up front, I expect the sensor calibration in the back would have been best left and let the cleaner do its work - the other bit well worth unblocking...

Tried that. Maybe OK to prevent not a lot of use at a cure. Software removal is the cure. If ur not doing 30k miles a Yr.

Mot not an issue as current regs stand software was removed and mot done 3 days later
As for the kill bit if makers were making the stuff properly and did nt rape us on the prices because they can, most would maintain it. I wud. I just not getting screwed over every 2,3 yrs for a system that has never worked properly. Since new.
Also what I put out of pipe in 10k miles a Yr does f all when compared with the oil guzzling tankers delivering your cheap TV, hi fi apple phone and prob 80% of everything in your house. Nor are the poles and Russian or Chinese , Indians givin up on coal or oil Any time soon.
Nuthin travelling to markets around the world is green in fact the exact opposite!! Whilst trying to reduce any of this is a good idea we in the so called first world are going to have f all effect on the likely outcome

I was under the immpression that wonerfull adblue was to help with regeneration only!! so if dpf doing its job and car running correctly i see no impact without adblue on day to day running.

adblue is to reduce dangerous NOx

diesel-powered vehicles and equipment account for almost half of all nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Polluting chemicals and compounds, including Nitrogen Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide, are produced when diesel engines burn fuel. These elements build up in the air and produce smog and acid rain.

AdBlue works through a process called selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Before any emissions are released, the solution is sprayed finely into a diesel exhaust at a proportion roughly equal to 5% of the diesel fuel.

This releases ammonia which is a catalyst to a chemical reaction and converts dangerous chemicals into nitrogen, water vapour and CO2 – all which are unharmful to our lungs and the atmosphere.

the fact the MOT tester didn't do his job doesn't mean you have any comeback if road side test catches u

The wise words of a man who has never had an Adblue car telling him 494 miles until engine will not start!
Having to pay out £750 to £1500 to fix problem, then 6 months later it all starts again.
These are not old cars either, mine was over £50,000 new and had only done 30,000 miles when all this started. I've too much money invested in it to lose thousands trading it in, or lose thousands getting it repaired every 6 months. I'm sure despite your principled view, you would delete the Adblue as well.

The fact is even without Adblue, they easily pass the MOT test, modern diesels are nowhere near as dirty as they once were.

if I was in government I'd mandate NO diesel car was ever allowed to start again - and I'd charge the owners to have it safely recycled, and fine them for the damage they have caused to others

there is NO excuse anyone normal knew at least a far back as 1995 no tractor fueled engine should be allowed to start ever again

Nice, maybe cut off everyones gas central heating/fires/cookers too, that would save a hell of a lot of Nox as well?

Yes n sea transport burns how many cars worth of heavy oil on a trip bringing China shxte to UK, that work for 5 min.
Our societies have been brainwashed into a throw away system. That's designed to keep the wheels of trade and cash flows overfilled . Just look at our wastage. It's all been paid for!! Even"quality "stuff ain't what it was, how come? To keep wheels turning and taxes coming in. 40 yr of Africa has taught me to hate waste here in Europe and I include a hate of wasting my cash or being led down engineered paths of forced expense.. Which in many respects means avoiding as much modern kit as possible and not replacing things for the sake of it. I am delighted to point out old stuff I have that still works as designed or stuff that I have managed to repair and keep working.

Engine warning light apparently indicates adblue sensor and tank issue, despite being filled up with adblue after a service. I’ve been advised around £1800 to replace, with £180 just to do a diagnostic test. It seems to be a common problem and clearly not fit for purpose! My car is <4 years old and <36k miles!! How can MB get away with this, as it clearly isn’t a one-off! Any suggestions please?
I read (will look for link) that when replacing adblu sensors, MB fits an upgraded version. Surely this is an admission that OEM was not fit for purpose?

New sensors and new software, none of which guarantees the system is now cured for any reasonable time.

all the points post my elucidation above, are intertwined with your future - games in play to print money and clean up the mess at a later date - heavily in overdrive since 50 years back
