AM Radio Reception advice needed

Hi everyone
My E240 uses the rear window heater as an aerial but unfortunately the AM reception is poor. So as far as I can see I can buy a new radio unit that has DAB or live with it as it is. I was just wanting to hear from others who may have experience or knowledge of this.
- Will DAB reception be just as bad because there it will still be using the same aerial in the rear window?
- Is there another option that can boost the existing AM reception?

I think it depends what you buy. I think Android units have an add on DAB module which comes with its own antenna
