Great job...i can see you take pride in your work UNLIKE the body shop of MB Evans & Halshaw.....i hope you contacted MB customer services and informed them about the job and service you recived at an approved MB bodyshop...if they are not repremanded financially they will continue along the same lines damaging other MB customer cars...its a disgrace!

I am into car detailing and was interested in your post, as a forum member on detalingworld theres alot of good waxes about now for under £20..i have listed 2 below for you, both are Carnauba paste sealer waxes and give excellent results...Meg 16 is about £10, Collinite is about £20 (links below for viewing)...thought you might be interested as they would add another dimension to your car...the process i use for best results...

Wash/shampoo
Clay (twice a year max)
Polish (sometimes)
Wax x2

The secret is to alwys polish the next panel to match the painted panel..then gradually fade the polishing as you would paint.. but few people will pick up on a difference in the paint finish, and will always comment on how nice the freshly painted panel looks.. .. personally i always find women have a better eye for colour and detail than men.. and if the good lady is well pleased with the finish... the hubby never complains.. dont u just love women..

Personally i wouldn't recommend waxing new paintwork for at least a month after painting,, to allow any stray solvents trapped in the finish to evaporate.. carnauba wax is an excellent sealer as well

Amazing finish, lovely car!

A good friend of mine has been showing me the (rather obsessive) delights of the detailing world. I had a go a "claying" a panel on the car last weekend and was amazed at the super smooth, almost frictionless finish. The finish is definitely a little orange-peely.

He has recommended Collinite wax as well. Looking forward to going over the whole car.

Apparently Meg16 gives just as good results and its half the price of collinite...

Backhanders was also my thought when I saw the mess, unless MB Glasgow have ties with E.H.

For anyone who is into polishing here are a few pictures of my old V-Class after it had been polished.

Now that's what I call a nice finish. Someday the S-Class paintwork might look this good

An absolutely fabulous job some of which you may well have elected to do in any event because of your perfectionist attitude to coachwork finish.....nonetheless superb.
Do you have a warranty from MB for the de-rust remedials? .....you must be apprehensive about the effectiveness of the de-rusting given the state of workmanship of the paint job which was always going to be obviously visible to the car's owner.

I took my father-in laws C class for warranty paint work in Glasgow, the first time it was a mercedes bodyshop and were awful, the 2nd time was to an independant bodyshop in Rutherglen who seemed very professional, I was happy with the finish when i picked it up and so was the father-in law but then again we are not experts.
Maybe they have so many claims that they have to farm the work out to a host of bodyshops and it's maybe just luck wherever your car ends up

MB give a 12 month warranty on the work. Mine was done 20 months ago and showing no signs of re-appearing. If it did happen to rust again I certainly know for sure that it wouldn't be going back to Evans Halshaw. I would rather pay for it to be done by my local bodyshop who is one of the best painters in this area

Thanks for the compliments guys, that was a whole saturday last summer
with compound, da polisher etc, Malcom, Meguires do this very soft retractable brush thing thats meant for nooks and crannies, ideal as its soft enough not to damage the fins on the rad......wifey thinks I take car cleaning too far sometimes :D
