Thanks for the compliments guys, that was a whole saturday last summer
with compound, da polisher etc, Malcom, Meguires do this very soft retractable brush thing thats meant for nooks and crannies, ideal as its soft enough not to damage the fins on the rad......wifey thinks I take car cleaning too far sometimes :D

That was well cleaned and polished,, Shame I just cannot get the same effect on mine

SIlver is difficult to get a deep shine on, though not impossible as seen here on a Renault I owned years ago

For reflection pictures, my old Rover takes a bit of beating.

Really enjoyed reading this thread - thanks op and all that contribute.

I hate having my car/s washed or even worse, wash myself. Reason for this is that:

1: I'm lazy.

2: More importantly, it really hurts when i see new scratches/sents/etc on the beatuful black paintwork.

But boy do the cars look A1 when washed and polished and the weather is a bit dull.

If you keep on top of the scratches they are easily sorted without too much effort.

My paintwork was in a bad way because of poor workmanship by Evans Halshaw. Drastic measures had to be taken to rectify it and I'm lucky to have the skills to tackle such a job, skills which I have developed over a number of years. When I told my mate what I was doing he was shocked that I could even contemplate taking what is basically sand paper to the paintwork of an S-Class. I know not everyone has the same abilities or dedication to do such jobs, but for me I do get a buzz from doing something like this and seeing the end results and I'm sure the car drives better when it is nice and shiny.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. :D :D :D

Amazing job - you're a bit of a perfectionist I see.

I did a similar job on my Ducati 749 but had a bit less bodywork to work on than an 'S' Class. Similar result though and very theraputic.
Now throw away the keys because that first muddy puddle is going to hurt !

Clearly 'Excellence' is the standard in all you do, in particular your cars and that superb second home called a garage:cool:

Just one point...on your pics the door brightware trim looked scuffed (i think from MB work), did you manage to rework?

You mean the stainless bump strip on the door, I've not touched it yet. I have some excellent metal polish for removing marks and polishing stainless steel, but I will have to mask the paintwork before doing it as it could potentially damage the paint :(

Good luck that can be tricky....its unbelievable that MB could do so much damage...got my E W210 in tommorow with MB Chester bodyshop for a subframe crossmember change under warranty...going to get the service manager to walk around car first with me when i drop off...
