Hi,

I am new to the forum, so firstly nice to meet you all!

I have bought a Mercedes C250 CDI (2011) today, everything works great on the car, except for the bluetooth; I cannot get it to even register as a thing on my phone (Android), or another phone (IOS). I have used the "reset" option on the display, but it seems to make no difference.

Any ideas of what I can try? I am new to all of this so happy to hear any/all suggestions, no matter how basic.

Thanks in advance,

Lisa. x

I believe so... it has the box where you can select if the bluetooth is active or not... I have tried detecting the bluetooth in both settings.

Hello and welcome,

Can you see if there are any phones already registered to the system?
If so delete them all because only a certain amount can be registered which could be preventing yours connecting

Thanks for this, I hadn't tried connecting this way! As soon as I clicked update it says that there was an "error while searching for Bluetooth telephones". The error pops up immediately, it's like it's not searching.

A good shout, although I can't seem to see that any phones are programmed in, and there's nowhere obvioust look, other than where was shown in the video link above.

sounds odd.

If you can find the menus then its likely it was there and should work.

I would put your chassis number in here https://www.lastvin.com/ it will provide a detailed list of info about the car including all the toys the car was built with (or had officially added)

if you find telephony or such in the list then its supposed to work.

Its possible somethings wrong.

Hardware failure of the media interface is fairly common (lots of merc ones cheap on ebay, no idea if that affects calls - fairly likely I'd suggest). And of course modern cars have lots of software than can have updates for security and bug fixes. On your age car Bluetooth music streaming (alongside phone calls) was just becoming available and there's a cross over where it could be just too old, its there but not enabled (and its possible you might get it to work delving in a secret menu and turning it on) or needs a software update to current latest and additional features become available.

If a complete reset/reboot back to standard on the car and another phone still refuse to play ball, someone with diagnostic to check sounds like the next step. If the module died, I put in a good one from ebay and get the car system updated.

we have one great independent with huge expertise on the entertainment systems in Lightwater Surrey https://www.commandonline.co.uk/ or of course main dealers
alternately there are people offering car play add ons that may replace the module with a more sophisticated set up like

Have you tried taking it back to the dealer to have them do it for you?

Not yet, but I may well do that prior to going down the route that @Botus has suggested. It's great to have all my options, I appreciate everyone's help on this. :) You've all made a great first impression.
