I have had to get brakes and rotors changed on my 2016 S550 twice on front and back since I had car, Is this a known problem? No, I'm not abusing my brakes

Hello and welcome

How many miles has it done?

I’m guessing you’re over the pond, much salt applied to the roads where you are?

At what mileages buddy ! It’s also a well known main dealer method of “up selling” to say you brakes are low Sir
That’ll be £300 please

And some! A local MB quoted me around £550 for new discs & pads not long after I'd bought it from AN Other MB dealer. 12 months later I replaced just the pads.

What am I do? How do I know if they are telling truth or not? Brakes were not squeaking or acting abnormal and never had problems stopping.

Did the pad and rotor wear measurements confirm that they needed changing ?
According to the dealer yes. I never seen any test results but I trusted what they told me

When the pads wear down a warning will come up on the dash. Depending upon how you drive you should have well over 500 miles to then get the pads done.

As per above it’s an easy up-sell at the dealers especially with an S-Class

Get a 2nd opinion. Is the low pad warning on? Even when it first shows, there'll still be a reasonable bit of life left

No lights came on. I think they (mercedes dealer) all talk to each other
