Car tracker

Hello guys, I'm new to this, great to find you here.

I just bought a Merc E220d AMG Premium and was wondering what sort of tracker I could buy for it or whether the car itself has some tracking service provided by Mercedes Benz. Apologies if it sounds a silly question but I am still learning about the car, I couldn't even turn the radio off yesterday

Hello and welcome,

There is a “Mercedes Me” built in which you can sign up to and get your dealer to allocate to you. It’s not a recognised insurance tracker, it’s more useful for Mercedes so they know where the car is to collect it if the lease on it stops being paid…

Apple air tag is a simple tracker, sim based ones are better and can be fairly cheap with a PAYG sim

I thought about the Apple air tag as it's quite easy to hide away. I will consider them and sign up for the Mercedes Me as you suggested.

Mercedes Me will only work if your car has LTE/4G. 3G is being switched off this year so earlier cars won’t work online. Changeover, as I understand it, was mid 2018 (my September 18 car has 4G). A VIN check will tell you.
